BRIDGE is an evening support group developed primarily for individuals suffering from drug and alcohol use problems.

What can I expect from BRIDGE?BRIDGE

BRIDGE members share their personal experiences and knowledge about recovery. Sessions also cover how to address drug and alcohol use problems (e.g., dealing with boredom, anger, stress, interpersonal conflicts, etc.). The sessions are facilitated by counsellors from NAMS and confidentiality is strictly maintained to provide a safe environment for everyone to share freely.

BRIDGE also encourages participants to share recovery resources and participate in recreational activities organized by senior members of the group. It strives to help clients connect with one another and develop positive relationships with each other and with the wider community.

What are the benefits of attending BRIDGE?

People with addiction often withdraw from family and friends. BRIDGE aims to:

  1. To CONNECT with peers with similar problems who are seeking recovery; and
  2. To LINK participants to recovery-centred resources and activities.

Recovering clients have found the sessions to be helpful. One patient described BRIDGE as a "safe and comfortable place where I can learn from fellow recovering addicts. And I learn how to share about my feelings." Another described BRIDGE as a "place to understand and be understood."
